Privacy policy
Paira is a private space for two people. This policy covers the Paira app and its test version, Paira Beta, on iPhone and Android. It explains what Paira collects, why it’s needed, and the choices you have.
What Paira collects
- Your account: your name, email address and profile photo when you sign in with Google, or a guest account if you choose that instead. Paira also keeps basic details about the devices you sign in on, to keep your account secure.
- What you share in Paira: messages, photos, videos, voice messages, places, events, reminders, anniversaries and your gallery. Photos can carry details such as where and when they were taken, and Paira reads those to place them on your timeline.
- What Paira learns with you: things you ask Paira to remember, your preferences for how it talks, and cues about how you feel that it notices in your chats, so it can respond with care. You can see what Paira remembers and ask it to forget.
- Only when you choose: your location, when you share it with Paira or use local weather on Home, and up to 50 contacts, when you share them with Paira to help with a request.
- From your device: what’s needed to send you notifications, your app version, and reports when something goes wrong.
- Your coins: your balance and the history of how coins were added and spent.
How Paira uses it
Your information is used to run Paira: to deliver your messages and notifications, to let Paira help when you ask, to keep your account secure, and to find and fix problems. Paira doesn’t show ads, and never sells your information or shares it for advertising.
Paira’s AI and your conversations
Paira includes an AI assistant, also called Paira, that you and your partner can talk to and ask for help. Because it lives inside the space you share, it works with what is in that space, including your private messages. This section explains how.
- When you ask for help: when you or your partner use Paira, whether in a conversation with Paira, in Ask Paira, with / in your chat, or for help replying to a message, Paira reads what it needs to answer. That can include recent and past messages in your chat, photos and their details, voice message transcripts, places, events, reminders, anniversaries, and what Paira remembers about you both.
- Your partner’s requests can include your messages: your chat is shared, so when your partner asks Paira for help, Paira can read messages you wrote, and when you ask, it can read messages your partner wrote. Paira is designed to keep what it learned privately from one of you out of its answers to the other.
- Automatic processing: some work happens without anyone asking Paira anything, so Paira can find things later and keep track of context. New messages are made searchable, conversations are summarized from time to time, voice messages are turned into text, and photos are described and checked for text.
- What Paira keeps: from your conversations with Paira, it can note facts, preferences, plans and how you seem to feel, and use them later to help with care. You can see what Paira remembers and ask it to forget.
- Outside AI services: Paira’s answers and the automatic processing above are produced with the help of outside AI services. Each receives the content needed for its task, such as the text of messages, and sends back a result. Some may keep that content for a limited time under their own terms, for example to prevent abuse.
- Paira can be wrong: its answers come from AI and may be inaccurate or incomplete, or misread a situation. They are not professional advice, so check anything important before you rely on it.
- People at Paira: no one reads your conversations to run Paira. Specific content is looked at only when you share it with Paira, for example in a bug report or support request, when abuse or a security problem needs investigating, or when the law requires it.
- Your choice: you decide when to ask Paira for help and what you share in your space. If you don’t want your content handled this way, don’t share it in Paira, or delete your account as described below.
Services that help run Paira
Paira works with a small number of trusted service providers. They handle your information only on Paira’s behalf and only to run Paira, and they may not use it for anything else.
- AI services help Paira understand and answer your requests, make your messages searchable, summarize your conversations, understand the photos you send and turn voice messages into text. To do this, they receive the content involved, which can include your messages and your partner’s.
- When Paira looks something up for you, or you search for a GIF, only the search words are sent to search services.
- Other providers store your photos and files, deliver notifications, help fix crashes, and show the weather where you are when you use it.
Where your information is processed
Paira and the services that help run it operate in several countries. Your information, including the content of your messages, may be stored and processed outside Vietnam, including in the United States and China, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live. Paira sends each service only what it needs for its task, over encrypted connections.
Your agreement
By creating a Paira account or using Paira, you agree to Paira collecting and processing your information as this policy describes, including the AI processing of your messages and other content and the processing abroad described above. Private messages, and anything they reveal about your health, feelings, relationships or beliefs, may be sensitive personal data under the law where you live. You can withdraw your agreement at any time by deleting your account; this doesn’t affect processing that has already happened.
Keeping it safe
Your information travels between the app and Paira over encrypted connections, and only a small number of people can access the systems that store it.
How long Paira keeps it
Paira keeps your information while your account is open. Technical records are deleted within 30 days, and conversations with Paira that you archive are deleted after 30 days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- see the information Paira holds about you and get a copy of it;
- correct information that is wrong;
- have your information deleted, or ask Paira to limit or stop processing it;
- withdraw your agreement, which for Paira means deleting your account;
- complain to the authority that protects personal data where you live.
To use any of these rights, email Paira from the address on your account. You’ll get a reply as soon as possible, and within the time the law requires.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Settings › Account › Delete Account. Deleting signs you out on every device, removes your sign-in connections, your name and your profile photo, and archives your shared space.
Some data stays after deleting: your email address, and the messages, memories and files in the space you shared, which are archived. To have these removed as well, or if you can’t open the app, email Paira from the address on your account and they’ll be deleted.
Age
Paira is for adults aged 18 and over.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top is updated. If a change is significant, Paira will tell you in the app.
